Formula One is a motorsport in which different teams compete in multiple Grand Prix races. Each team engineers its own Formula One car which drivers race around a track. Races take place in different countries around the world.

This year (2024), I started watching Formula One, and I’ve grown to love this sport. F1 is a high-tech and data-driven sport, and in this article, I’d like to share what I’ve learned about this thrilling world of racing.

In F1 basically has 10 teams. each team have 2 drivers. and Formular one governing body called FIA. FIA stands for Fédération Internationale de l’Automobile, which translates to International Automobile Federation in English.

FIA responsible for regulating the technical and sporting aspects of the sport, including the rules regarding driver and team conduct, the calendar of events, and track and car safety.

F1 has two annual World Championships: one for the drivers and one for the constructors (teams). The driver with the most points at the end of the season wins the Driver’s Championship, while the team with the most points wins the Constructors’ Championship.

This is the point system in F1

In 2024, there are 24 Grand Prix races held around the world as per the 2024 calendar. The current world champion is Max Verstappen, and the current Constructor Champion Team is Red Bull Racing Team.

As we conclude Part 1 of our discussion on Formula 1, we’ve covered the basics. Part 2 will dive into the logistics behind this exhilarating sport, offering insights into how everything comes together behind the scenes. Stay tuned 👏.
